As your City Councillor, I am committed to nurturing a sense of community and preserving the integrity of our public spaces. I understand that the vibrance of Toronto is rooted in our diverse organizations and their respective contributions to our city's cultural, social and economic fabric.
Many organizations within our ward and across the City regularly approach my office with requests for community or office space. Reflecting our commitment to addressing your needs, my office has been actively securing community space in new developments as they are approved. Instead of opting for cash contributions, we are choosing to direct these community benefits towards creating places that can foster a sense of belonging and collaboration.
Unfortunately, the City of Toronto currently lacks an online system for organizations to submit their expressions of interest for community spaces. We have stepped in to bridge this gap. My office is now collecting community space requests via this form. In doing so, we aim to formally assess the needs of our ward's many vital organizations and work towards meeting them.
I would like to point out that while we will strive to accommodate as many requests as we can, space is not guaranteed. Furthermore, we currently do not have timelines for when the spaces will be ready for occupancy.
Nonetheless, I assure you that your needs are important to me and my office is working diligently to provide solutions. We appreciate your understanding and patience in this matter.
Let's work together to create a city that supports its organizations, fosters community spirit, and truly reflects the dynamic nature of Toronto.
